Belladonna Bess

An edible garden in Wellington, NZ

A few moments in the garden June 20, 2010

Horrible weather on Sunday, so I didn’t get much done.

Sowing: broad beans (dwarf early green on the south side of the bed and Sutton’s dwarf on the north).

Weeding: the garden is in need of a major weed. I did about half and hour and barely made a dent in it.

Eating: yam/ oca, silverbeet, potatoes. Occasional pak choi, walking and multiplying onions, kale, lettuce, oyster mushrooms.

Thriving: I let a chervil plant go to seed. Now I have a ridiculus abundance of it. Apparently you can make “chervil vinegar” with it. So far I’ve found a recipe that takes 2 cups of chervil, so may give it a try.

Germinating: I have abundant feral lettuce, and the miner’s lettuce is now starting to sprout. I’ve also got dill coming up in reasonable quantity, and the usual stupid abundance of parsley seedlings.
